flashback friday: one year ago today.

On August 9th, 2012, I packed up early for an extraordinary experience with two of my friends. You see, in 2011 we stumbled upon a band named Action Item. A small pop-rock band from Jersey who, with not only catchy tunes but incredibly good looks, can draw you in immediately. When I met them the band consisted of five members: Brian Cag, David Buczkowski, Dan Brozek, Anthony Li, and Mark Shami. Mark has now moved on to work on a personal project, but I still have the same amount of respect that I did when I first met him. These guys are hardworking and do the best they can to make their fans happy. After traveling hundreds of miles to multiple tours, it’s safe to say these guys and the friends I have made from going to see them, are a big part of my life. The only word I can come up with for the past two years would be unique. Not many people can say they have done the things I have with this band and for that I am very thankful.

On this day, one year ago, Rachel, Becca, and I traveled to Chicago to a screening of Until It’s Over. UIO was a documentary of Action Item’s journey so far as a band. They had a red carpet rolled out at each screening across the country, and five girls in each city were chosen to be the guys’ dates. One of the five in Chicago happened to be one of my best friends, and I refuse to let her live it down. The movie was really neat, it opened my eyes to the things Brian, Anthony, Dan, Dave, and Mark went through to get to where they are today. One ticket to the event got you into the movie, a photo with the guys on the red carpet, and a viewing of a Q&A/Acoustic set after the show. Overall a pretty game-changing night/idea for a band like Action Item, and after a weird series of events, I am so glad I was able to have the chance to go. Each time I see these guys, it’s a different experience, and I can’t wait to see where they progress from here.
